To Know the Laws, to Respect Traditions
On June 23, a preventive meeting was held at the university for foreign students and attendees of training courses at the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Belarusian State University of Foreign Languages. The participants met with Ivan Novikov, Head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Police Colonel, and Inna Naidenik, Deputy Head of the Citizenship and Migration Directorate of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Police Lieutenant Colonel.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to issues of foreign nationals' compliance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, rules of stay in the country, and timely processing of necessary migration documents. Participants were reminded of the procedures for registration and re-registration at their place of residence, extending the duration of their stay, obtaining a temporary residence permit, as well as the prospects for further applying for a permanent residence permit and citizenship. Issues regarding liability for offenses were addressed separately, including those related to illicit drug trafficking, cyber fraud, and illegal crossing of the state border.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ivan Novikov and Inna Naidenik also answered questions raised by foreign students and attendees of training courses at the Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining (IATR) of BSUFL. The questions concerned the need to obtain a visa and migration card for travel to the Russian Federation; the process of obtaining a driver's license of the Republic of Belarus; the nuances of issuing an invitation through the digital service "E-Pasluga" and independently processing documents for re-registration; specifics of transferring a foreign student from one higher education institution to another; as well as combining studies with employment.
