TORFL Examination

The Test of Russian as a Foreign Language is held at BSUFL twice a year, in November and April, in partnership with the Language Testing Center of St. Petersburg State University (SPbU). Upon successful completion of the test, candidates receive an official Russian state-recognized certificate issued by SPbU.

TORFL is recognized by The Association of Language Testers of Europe (ALTE)—an association of leading national organizations involved in language proficiency testing.

The TORFL certificate is also recognized by many states, including Brazil, Vietnam, Greece, Spain (Catalonia), Italy, Poland, Russia, Romania, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and the Czech Republic.

Currently, holding a TORFL certificate is a requirement for foreign citizens’ admission to many Russian universities. It also allows international applicants to earn additional points when applying to Russian university programs through portfolio competitions.
